There will be a Special Code Blue Training Class held right here in VOWS. It will be held at the new Amenity Center at 12209 Timberland Blvd. The class is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday nights (February 25 & 26) from 18:30 to 22:30. You must attend both nights. Refreshments will be served.

Woodland Springs Residents,

On Tuesday October 14th the Code Blue/Citizen Patrol Volunteers will be hosting our 2nd Annual Texans Against Crime Night. This years picnic will be in the main amenity center park at Woodland Springs Dr. and Park Vista Dr. from 6pm to 9pm.

We are quite excited about this years event. We are honored to have Congressman Burgess, State Rep. Vicki Truitt, County Commissioner Gary Fickes, Judge Sharen Wilson, Jeff Baker KISD Dir. of Demographics and Planning/Security, Captain Read FWPD North Div., Lt. Stone NPD3 a visit from Councilman Sal Espino and possibly Mayor Moncrief!! We will also have a FW Fire truck and the FW Mounted police in attendance. There will be FW City Representatives from Graffiti Abatement, Code Compliance, the Better Business Bureau and the District Attorney's Office.

We will have 3 different size bounces houses, prizes and we will serve hot dogs, chips, cookies and a beverage to everyone (until we run out). The Central High School ROTC Cadets will be helping us and we will have their Booster Club present having a bake sale.

The residents are asked to pick up your free food ticket (one per person) at the Code Blue booth. We will have information on upcoming Code Blue classes and you can sign up to receive email Crime Alerts from the Code Blue team and meet Officer Barry Sawyer our own FW neighborhood police officer.

Tell your friends and neighbors, they won't want to miss this event.

Halloween can be a fun time for everyone, but we must be mindful of the potential dangers. The Fort Worth Police Dept. wants to remind us of ways to protect our children.

1. Watch your child as they go door to door.
2. Only allow them to accept candy from neighbors you know.
3. Never enter a home upon invitation, unless you are with the child and you know the neighbor.
4. Never eat candy that looks opened or unwrapped.
5. Wear something reflective or carry a flashlight in the dark.
6. Know where the sex offenders live in the area and do not let your children go to those homes alone.

The airshow will be held at Alliance Airport on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. Performers will include the USAF Thunderbirds, Tora-Tora-Tora and several other performers.

Bring your family to see the aviation exhibits, amazing aerial shows and enjoy all the food and fun! Gates open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m.

What is National Night Out?

It's America's Night Out Against Crime!

The "23rd Annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2006. We cordially invite you and your community to be a part of our NIGHT OUT 2006 team.

Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 34 million people participated in NNO 2005.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods 'celebrate' NNO with a variety of events and activities such as:

• block parties,
• cookouts,
• visits from local police and sheriff departments
• parades, exhibits,
• flashlight walks,
• contests, and
• youth programs.

NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation. Plus, the benefits your community will derive from NNO will most certainly extend well beyond the one night.

KellerFest 2006, hosted by the Greater Keller Chamber of Commerce, will be a true Hometown Celebration, featuring activities for all ages. Plan to spend time over the weekend with the family enjoying the festivities!

Mayfest is celebrating its 34 th year as Fort Worth’s premier community festival. The 2006 festival will be held May 4-7 on 33 acres in the lovely Trinity Park of Fort Worth, Texas.

The mission of Mayfest is to raise funds for community non-profit programs and for the continued improvement and awareness of the Trinity River and surrounding parks through a combination of volunteerism and community resources.

Mayfest is held on approximately 33 acres in Trinity Park, on the banks of the Trinity River. Trinity Park is located on the east side of University Drive, north of Interstate 30 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The First Annual WS Elementary School Fun Walk and Costume Parade:

When: October 29, 2005
Starting Point: In front of the school in the driveway
Time: Starts at 1:00pm – Get there early!
Parking: Woodland Springs Drive will be blocked off starting in front of the elementary school to the WS park for vendors to set up starting at 11am on Saturday morning. Parking is limited, so please park on the side of the school until full, then down Woodland Springs Drive or side streets. Parking will be limited, so we strongly recommend walking or carpooling to the event.

Bathrooms: School bathrooms will be open during the walk and the fall festival so lets be respectful of the school while we are using them.

Purpose: Parents, this is for a fabulous cause - our school’s Literacy Library. We do not have all of the resources we need yet. We will have a spirit booth for those in our community who want to donate during the event. Our school gets every dime we raise and it will be put to great use.

Pledges: Due on Friday 28th. Your child has a very special opportunity to win a big prize. Just collect a minimum of $25 to receive a free t-shirt.

This Family Fun Walk will be the most exciting PTA fundraiser ever! You may participate in a costume parade during the WSES walk for all the children and adults. Dress up to show your friends! After the family walk, please join a full-blown festivity co-sponsored by our very own community – The Villages of Woodland Springs.

Second Annual VOWS Fall Festival

Food, beverages, games, jump houses, music, arts & crafts, vendor booths, Trunk or treat and so much more. Let’s make this an exciting family event and raise a years worth of funds for WSES in just one day. Look for the pledge forms on October 11th and updates in student folders on Tuesdays. Please help… We need Individual Pledges, Business Sponsors & Donations!

All Family Fun Walk proceeds will benefit the WSES wish list, including a new literary program and more to be announced in flyers & newsletters. This smashingly successful event proudly supports WSES and VOWS.

Students, start earning your “Walk for Health for it” incentives and the opportunity to win one of three WSES GRAND prizes.
