We have another beaver at the pond on Bray Birch. The Animal Services came out and set the traps and the beaver went in, but someone turned it over and let the beaver out. Not only did they turn the beaver loose but they pulled the other trap out of the water. This beaver is chewing down the trees around the pond.

The pond behind Scenic Point and Bay View had a beaver working in it and the beaver chewed some electrical wiring to the fountain.

Please do not disturb the humane traps that have been put out to catch and relocate the destructive beavers. If you find a beaver in one of the traps, please report it to the SBB on-site office as soon as possible. The traps are safe for the beavers and they will be moved to a safer location. Please tell your neighbors that this is going to take place so it can be taken care of quickly. This will keep the cost down.

Thank you for helping us with this matter.

Here's Another Chance for Low Cost Pet Tags and Vaccinations

Fort Worth is offering license and rabies vaccination for only $4 and Microchip ID's for $10

A low-cost pet license and vaccination clinic will be held this Saturday to increase the number of pets with current identification and rabies vaccinations. The annual city pet license usually costs $7 and a rabies vaccination can cost even more. However, in order to increase the number of animals with current identification, and protect residents and pets from rabies, the city is offering both the license and the three-year rabies vaccination for only $4.

Also, a new technology in animal identification - the microchip - is being offered to those who are interested for an additional $10. A microchip offers pets a permanent form of identification.

When and Where: Pet licenses, rabies vaccinations and microchips will be available from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st at the Animal Care and Control Center, 4900 Martin Street (MAP).

At 1:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, weather permitting, the City of Fort Worth/Tarrant County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will activate/test the 132 outdoor warning sirens located within the city limits of Fort Worth.

The sirens for The Villages of Woodland Springs are located at 11697 Park Vista Road (siren #12) and 11997 Timberland Blvd (siren #105). These are the sirens we would hear should imminently dangerous weather be approaching.

As a result of the recent expansion of coverage, many citizens of Fort Worth will be hearing a siren at their home or office for the very first time. Even those who have had a siren near them in the past will probably be surprised by the unique and powerful electronic sound* of the new sirens. Each siren, which covers up to four square miles, has a signal strength of 127 decibels within 100 feet of the siren and approximately 70 decibels at the edge of their projected sound radius.

This is Anita at the on-site office.

The pond behind Scenic Point and Bay View has a beaver working in it and the beaver has chewed some electrical wiring to the fountain.

Monday animal control is going to put out a humane trap to catch the beaver. We need everyone to pass the word around to keep all dogs on leashes (which they should be anyway) and to not let any dog or child disturb the trap. If a dog urinates on the trap the beaver will not go in.

The traps are safe for the beavers and they will be moved to a safer location. Please tell your neighbors that this is going to take place so it can be taken care of quickly. This will keep the cost down.

Thank you for helping us with this matter.

Anita

Last Tuesday night, as many of you know, there was an HOA meeting. I couldn’t attend, but I heard enough of what went on. I have lived in Woodland Springs since August of 2003 and I have purposefully tried to stay out of the HOA politics. I figured keeping a personal low profile was the best way to keep woodlandsprings.com a vibrant and useful Web site. However, I have heard things about myself that are not true. These rumors coupled with the appalling behavior of a very small minority require some kind of response.

I will do my best to answer questions and quell rumors within this posting. Please read carefully as it directly relates to the history of this Web site and its future.

Welcome to WoodlandSpring.com. This site is a community site, but is owned by private residents within the community. Lately there has been some controversy as to how the site is managed, so it’s time to set the record straight. This letter is meant to spell out the intention of the Web site as well as explain the new Terms of Service and why they had to change.

During the last few weeks, there have been several occasions in which threads in the Forum Section have become what can only be described as abusive, negative, and/or adversarial.

It was never conceived in the development of this website that this would ever occur. We specifically did not include a “chat room” module when setting up this site primarily because of a concern for this type of problem. We established the Forums module with the idea (perhaps naïve) that it would be a useful and timely communication vehicle for VOWS homeowners to interact with each other in a friendly, helpful, neighborly manner.

Unfortunately it seems that the Forums have in many cases become a de facto chat room exhibiting all the problems we hoped to avoid. I believe most users of this website understand what I am referring to without having to cite specifics. There have been unnecessarily critical comments about homeowners and their actions or questions, allegations, veiled threats, negative innuendo, deliberately inflammatory statements, overtly aggressive position stances, personal attacks, vulgarity, nitpicking and argumentative bickering. It just has to stop!

It has to stop because it is unnecessarily hurting all of us. It is embarrassing and damaging our image as a community and could easily be negatively affecting the values of our properties.

If we cannot self-police ourselves and stop this problem, then the solution is to shut down and close the Forum module. At first this will be on a temporary basis; if that doesn’t work, it will be on a permanent basis. There is no point in further discussion of who is right and who is wrong and who gets the last word; it all just has to stop.

As the first moderator of this website and chairperson of the Homeowners Advisory Committee, I honestly believe that most users of this website and the forums appreciate its availability and find it useful in providing pertinent local information. I hope we can find the way to keep it a positive and productive resource for VOWS.

So as a final comment to all users and posters on this website: Please take the time to review and reflect on what you are posting. And if you have to refer to another homeowner or individual by real name, screen name, or even indirect reference to an event or situation, please try to follow the saying of “If you can’t say something nice about someone, don’t say anything at all!”

Frank Friar
