Board Candidates from Keller ISD and Northwest ISD Invited
Fort Worth, Texas - March 25, 2007 - The North Fort Worth Alliance will host a forum for candidates for the Keller ISD and the Northwest ISD School Board elections on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Heritage Church of Christ. The Heritage Church of Christ is located at 4201 Heritage Trace Parkway in Fort Worth, Texas. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear prepared answers by the candidates to questions presented earlier to the candidates. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the candidates for one-on-one discussion.
Tarrant County is one of the fastest-growing counties of the United States fueled by growth in the Alliance corridor in North Fort Worth. This has led to significant growth challenges for the Northwest ISD and Keller ISD, including school overcrowding and infrastructure coordination problems with the City of Fort Worth and other municipalities. The candidates will be asked to address these and other important issues.The election will take place on May 12, 2007, with early voting beginning on April 30, 2007, and ending on May 8, 2007. There are twelve candidates for four contested positions on the Keller ISD School Board. There are two uncontested positions on the Northwest ISD School Board.
The North Fort Worth Alliance is a group of active community members from 18 local neighborhoods. The Alliance was founded in March of 2006 and became a registered member of the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Associations in July of the same year. The Mission of the North Fort Worth Alliance is to protect and enhance the neighborhood concept, to encourage, communicate, educate, and share information, and to exchange ideas to promote a better quality of life for those who reside with the boundaries of the Alliance. The boundaries of the Alliance are FM 1171 on the north, Highway 377 on the east, and IH-35W on the west, except that the western boundary includes those neighborhoods to the west of IH-35W that are located within Fort Worth City Council District 2. The southern border is North Tarrant Parkway. This area includes about half of the Keller ISD and about half of the Northwest ISD.
